A feel good book.

--- Hannah F.

“I like the easy, accessible style.”

--- Julia Forster, author of “Shadow Jumper”

“Extremely intriguing.”

--- Lisa Lickel, author of five novels, including “The Map Quilt”

“Good straight forward storytelling and the hook at the end of Chapter 1 works well, when we think the excitement is over. ... The writing is quite good.”

--- Tod Schneider, author of “The Lost Wink”

“It was an enjoyable read. Once I got into it, it kept my interest to see where it was going.”

--- Jill Badzinski, former editor West Bend (Wis.) Daily News

“I like the story. Carl reminds me of Patrick Bateman in ‘American Psycho.’ They are both loners and have a fondness for expensive clothes. I like the description in the first chapters of his interaction, or rather lack of it with his colleagues. I think it's good.”

--- Maria Gibbons, author of “Past, Present, Future?”

Second of two exciting announcements

The other piece of exciting news from today is the Nicholas Dettmann mobile app is now available on Android.

I'm still working with Apple to get the iPhone, iPad app. It's a little bit longer process. I hope to get it up and running here very soon.

With the app, which is FREE, you will be able learn about my book, read a preview of it and buy it. You will also be able to get instant news updates, keep track of upcoming appearances/signings and more!

Check it out. Why not? It's FREE!

First of two exciting announcements

As it says, here is the first of two exciting announcements that developed today.

Today, I signed with two stores in Stevens Point to carry my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About."

The stores are:
Bookfinders Bookstore, 1001 A. Brilowski Road, Stevens Point, WI 54482
Book World, 1136 Main St., Stevens Point, WI 54481

Very excited to have these two stores willing to stock my novel. That brings the total number of stores in Wisconsin carrying my book to eight.

I spoke with a Pages and Pipes in Appleton and Apple Blossom Bookstore in Oshkosh. But the manager and/or owner for both stores was not available. I will follow up with them later this week.

Fireside Book Signing

I have to be honest, I was quite nervous heading into my signing today at Fireside Books and Gifts in West Bend. Being a new author with a book that's only been out two months, it was hard to guess what kind of crowd I was going to have.

While it took a little while, I did have two people that saw the story in the paper regarding the book signing and came into the store specifically looking for me and my novel. That was refreshing.

In all, six books were sold. It wasn't my goal, but I have to try and see the positive. I sold six, rather than zero.

This is going to be a long process to one day fulfill my dream of being a best-selling author. Stephen King, John Grisham and etc. had to start at the bottom, too. I believe my talent is engaging enough, just trying to convince people of that is and will be hard to do.

So for those who have purchased my novel, by whichever means you have, I sincerely thank you for your support.

Fireside Books now has a good collection of my novel - 3 hard covers and 9 paperbacks. However, all of them are signed. So if you haven't yet, please stop by and pick up a copy. And again, I sincerely thank you for your support. To hear people and see people want my book is so flattering. I hope it continues.

My next signing will be Saturday, May 12, at the Kewaskum Arts & Crafts Fair in Kewaskum, WI. The show will be held in the parking lot between the middle and high school. The show begins at 10 a.m.

Soon afterward, I will do a reading/discussion/signing at the Jack Russell Memorial Library in Hartford, WI. That'll be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16.

Humbled

It was so neat and flattering to hear people who I don't even know say they wanted to get my book. The three ladies who called into WBKV this morning truly made my day and my week. I still have the smile on my face three-plus hours later.

Tentative reading

I have tentatively scheduled Tuesday, June 19, 6-7 p.m. to do a reading/discussion/sale of my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About," at the Kewaskum Library in Kewaskum, WI.

Will confirm soon.

Radio show appearance thoughts

This morning, I was on the AM1470 (WBKV) morning show with Bob Bonefant. We talked about myself as an author and my background and my debut fictional novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About."

It went great! I couldn't be any more excited with how it went. Afterward, we opened up the phone lines and issued three free copies to listeners. They were gone within two minutes!!! Thank you to the three nice ladies I spoke with on the phone and pardon me for not remembering the names. I believe it was Mary, Elaine and Arlene. Still, a big thank you! I'm sorry to others who tried calling in but didn't get a copy. We'll get you hooked up somewhere down the road.

Tomorrow, Saturday, April 21, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., I will be at Fireside Books and Gifts, 1331 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, to do a book signing and we'll discuss the book as well. I'd love to meet more people there.

Thank you to everyone for your support. You don't know what it means to me and my wife!

Novel No. 2

I worked on my second novel a bit more today and I have finally come up with a title.

My second novel will be entitled, "Dancing Dream." It is inspired by a true story.

It is about a woman who loves dancing, dreams of become a professional dancer. But she is forced to quit because of tough financial times. Years after quitting, she finds her longtime boyfriend cheating on her and gets in horrific car crash after catching him. She loses both of her legs below the knees in the crash. A man who was also involved in the crash saves her life by reviving her in the car. She struggles with life without full use of her legs until someone introduces her to therapuetic horseback riding lessons. She tries it out and likes it. Then she meets a guy who begins to have feelings for her. However, she is reluctant. Later, she decides to seek out the man who saved her life. After months of searching, she finally finds him and goes to see him. She immediately falls for him. Now it's a battle between her being in love with him and the therapist falling in love with her. How will the therapist convince her that he is in love with her? Who will she choose? Who will she end up with?

Later, the theraist and the woman talk about past goals. She mentions dancing; tells him that she's long forgotten about her dancing dream, especially now without her legs. It's not possible to do it. He finds the way to connect to her heart. It is a struggle to talk her into being a dancer again, especially without the full use of her legs.

"Dancing Dream" will take readers on this inspirational journey of love and determination. Will the woman give in and try to fulfill her dream of being a professional dancer? Who will try to convince her to do so?

The goal is to have this project completed by July.
