Captivating!”

--- Linda

Inspiring!”

--- Scott B.

A feel good book.

--- Hannah F.

“I like the easy, accessible style.”

--- Julia Forster, author of “Shadow Jumper”

“Extremely intriguing.”

--- Lisa Lickel, author of five novels, including “The Map Quilt”

“Good straight forward storytelling and the hook at the end of Chapter 1 works well, when we think the excitement is over. ... The writing is quite good.”

--- Tod Schneider, author of “The Lost Wink”

“It was an enjoyable read. Once I got into it, it kept my interest to see where it was going.”

--- Jill Badzinski, former editor West Bend (Wis.) Daily News

“I like the story. Carl reminds me of Patrick Bateman in ‘American Psycho.’ They are both loners and have a fondness for expensive clothes. I like the description in the first chapters of his interaction, or rather lack of it with his colleagues. I think it's good.”

--- Maria Gibbons, author of “Past, Present, Future?”

Signing appearance confirmed

I will do an autograph session for my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About," on Saturday, April 21, at Fireside Books and Gifts in West Bend, WI.

The time will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Hope to meet some of you there!

BlueInk Review

BlueInk Review Company has released its review of my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About."

“A Life Worth Dreaming About” is a valiant effort by author Nicholas Dettmann to update “A Christmas Carol” for modern times. Carl, our present-day Scrooge, loves money beyond all else. He’s selfish, mean-spirited and misogynistic. … Dettmann gets points for his clear enthusiasm in writing the story and clever idea.”

The Reader's Loft

The Reader's Loft, 2069 Central Ct. #44, Green Bay, WI, now has my novel "A Life Worth Dreaming About" in stock.

That brings the total stores in Wisconsin stocking my book to six. A reading/signing is in the works.

Boswell Book Company

My debut novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About," is now available at Boswell Book Company, 2559 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee, WI

It is located near the Downer Theater on Milwaukee's upper east side. Plans are in the works to have a launch party at the store.

Library additions

My novel is now being carried by the Hartford and Slinger libraries.

"A Life Worth Dreaming About" is being carried in four libraries: West Bend, Kewaskum, Hartford and Slinger. I plan to do readings at all four here in the near future. And at the readings, you will have the opportunity to buy copies of the novel and have them autographed.

I'm also looking into placing the novel at the libraries in Germantown, Greenfield and Milwaukee. Thank you for your support!

Pages and Pipes

Just spoke with Pages and Pipes Bookstore in Appleton. They will carry my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About," after April 24. They said they are currently doing a reinventory of their stock. Once they have done that, they'll stock my novel.

That brings the total of stores stocking my novel in Wisconsin to five.

Closing in on two more stores

It appears that Boswell Book Company, 2559 N. Downer Ave, Milwaukee, and Pages and Pipes in Appleton are close to an agreement to carry my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About."

I'm hopeful to have both finalized by the end of this week. If so, that'd bring the store count carrying my novel across Wisconsin to six.

I'm still in discussion with Next Chapter Bookstore in Mequon as well.

A new bookstore

A Room Of One's Own Bookstore, 307 W. Johnson St., Madison, WI, now has "A Life Worth Dreaming About" in stock.

Working on a date for an autograph signing.

A Review From ForeWord Clarion

In “A Life Worth Dreaming About,” Nicholas Dettmann sets forth an appealing, if not unfamiliar, scenario. Through some sort of “divine intervention,” a man is allowed to go back in time and “fix” some of the mistakes he has made, thus correcting the path of his life and making him a better person for it all. Dettmann’s main character, Carl, is granted this intriguing opportunity. … Those who enjoy Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” or Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life,” will be rooting for Carl to make good on this amazing gift.
“Dettmann’s story has real potential, and his flair for detail is impressive.”

First store made official

I went to five bookstores today and one of them agreed to stock my novel, "A Life Worth Dreaming About."

The store is: People's Book Co-op, 2122 E. Locust St., Milwaukee, WI
We will have a book reading/discussion/signing there at some point so stand by for details on that.

As for the other stores, one is filtering out its book section, the UWM Bookstore. The others wanted to take a look at my book first before agreeing to it. If and when those become official, I'll make the announcement.

Lastly, I went to the West Bend Community Library today to see if they took in my book or not and it did. And better yet, it's already been checked out!
